How to enter medical expenses in TaxTron 2018

The entry of medical expenses in TaxTron 2018 differs from previous years. The medical expenses worksheet is used to enter medical expenses in TaxTron 2018 and you are only able to claim expenses for one person per sheet. You can enter medical expenses in "Steps" mode or "Forms" mode.

In steps mode, select "Medical and attendant care expenses" when you are in the "Payment Profile" page under the "Deductions" tab. You will then proceed to the "Health Profile" page which will ask you which type of expenses to claim. You will then head to the "Medical Expenses" page which will prompt you to enter the period for the which you claimed the expenses. The next page will allow you to select the patient and enter the information about the expense type, payment, description, and amount into the columns.

In order to find the medical expenses worksheet in forms mode, navigate to the forms manager and enter "Medical Expenses" into the search bar. Once you find the sheet titled "Medical Expenses" in the forms manager, click on it to open it. Select the white box beside the name of the person who will be claiming the medical expenses in that worksheet. You may enter the expenses by expense type, payment to, description, and amount in their appropriate columns. If you are unsure of what expense type to enter an expense as, you can select "other expenses". If more than one person in your family is claiming medical expenses, you can add another instance in order to fill another sheet for their claim.

Remember to make sure that the program you have installed is up to date to ensure that you don't get any errors.
